Dutch oven cooking contest scheduled

Area outdoor dining enthusiasts are invited to attend the annual Louisiana State Dutch Oven Cook-Off on Saturday at Lake Bistineau State Park in Doyline. A number of cooking teams from Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas will participate in a three-pot cooking contest using Dutch ovens with medallions, trophies and cash on the line.

Advice comes from several quarters on hurricane preparedness

From the electric company, to insurance companies, to a bottle water association, to a pet sitters association, advice on hurricane preparedness is being offered freely in the expectation of Hurricane Earl’s brush with the Northeast coast.
